The Incal

Another future dystopian concept. They’re a good idea, but not all of them are good. This one semi-passes the test, I enjoyed it in some ways. There were a lot of cool, new science-y ideas involving technology and media almost every other page which kept me interested, some really cool cityscapes and awesome adventure scenes. Everything is imaginative and bright, creating a whole new world to visually get lost in. The art is clean and colorful (beautiful perspective pieces in here). Aside from that, the story was a little slow and it wasn’t actually that well written. The characters lacked in depth (they all seemed to be one dimensional archetypes) who accepted every new thing that was thrown their way with little emotion or rejection. The plot was a little dicey (I found myself a little lost more than once) and incoherent as there seemed to be a lack of timeline as well. The dialogue is meh, kind of dull, which I guess can be attributed to the translation.
